When it comes to the argument that whether it is good for children to learn a foreign language as soon as they start school .I consider that for learning, especially language learning, the earlier, the better.
Some parents do not want their children to learn foreign language at the very early age because they worry that learning of a second language will have an adverse affect on the learning of mother tongue. And some other parents who also oppose their children to learn foreign language as soon as their children start school is because they do not want to add any burden to their children's childhood. It is the truth that children have a long way to go in order to learn a foreign language well and the process definitely will be laborious.
Actually, children, especially at very young age, have natural amazing ability to develop their language skills. It is said that children at the age of four can handle eight different languages and do not mix them. That is why so many parents catch this special time to help their children get in touch with English by sending their children to professional English-learning institutions nowadays. What is more, according to the scientific research, learning different languages at the very early age is a good way to help improve children's intelligence.
Additionally, take the present circumstance into consideration, with the globalization, it is unavoidable to learn a foreign language. Learning earlier has many advantages than learning later. For example, when growing old, the mother tongue is solidified in the mind, so it is very easy to mix the two language. And there exists a very normal phenomenon, that is, people always try to translate the foreign language into native language in order to help understand. In this way, never can one use the foreign language naturally. And what is more, it is easy to forget because someone just treat a foreign language as a part of tests. And when they leave the school and no one will push them to learn the language, they can just remember some basic greetings.
All in all, i think it is better to learn a foreign language as soon as children start school.
