本题改编自老GRE的ISSUE1"We can usually learn much more from people whose views we share than from people whose views contradict our own; disagreement can cause stress and inhibit learning"。 分析过程中要突出:learn(这是大多数习作中会忽视的关键词)

作文
We are living in a world that where we have
to interact with different people every day. Other people's behaviors
and beliefs can significantly shape ours. There is a claim that we can learn
more from people whose views we share than from people who hold opposite opinion, and the reason is that disagreement can cause
stress and inhibit learning. In a large extent, I approve of this claim, but I
have a different reason — disagreement usually inhibit further communications while people exhibit more communication
inclination with people who have a common
beliefs and views.
First, in many social situations, people
are usually attracted by people with shared views, which will probably lead further communication and cooperation.
So, people can benefit a lot by learning more information and carrying out
their ideas together. Take my personal experience for example, Lisa and I
became friends when we met at the first time, because we have the same ideas
that we want to take some actions to solve the inconvenience of students going
to downtown. Since our campus is in the suburbs
and there is only one bus to the nearest subway station, students usually have
to wait more than half an hour for the bus, besides, the bus is very crowded. With
the common goal, Lisa and I made an investigation about the students' oppinons, then we
came up with a solution that the university provides school buses ferrying
from school to the subway station. After we made great effort to persuade
school administrators, we finally carried out the ferry bus plan. It turned out
students welcomed this plan very much. It was the same ideas that lead to our
actions, and I learned a lot of knowledge and skills, such as how to make a
survey and how to convince others by powerful facts and reasons during this
experience.
Second, disagreement does inhibit learning especially when people's views are
irreconcilably contradictory. Suppose this situation, you are a big fan of
Harry Potter,
but you hear one person criticize these books as
childish and unimaginative. You would probably feel hurt at first, and maybe
you would try to change his view. But when you find that the man disgusts
with all kinds of magic stories, you may give up further discussion about your favorite
books. You clearly realized that further communication may cause some tension
between you and the best way is to respect his views.
But, I do not disapprove the opinion that
people can learn from different views, including contradictory
views. By understanding the opposite views, we may recognize the shortcoming of
ourselves, and have a more comprehensive understanding about the topic. For example,
we had a class discussion about whether the government should spend a large amount
of money on space program. I disagreed with it because I thought the government
should spend money on people who are extremely poor in our country. However,
Some students argued that aerospace industry can bring a lot of benefit to the
whole nation. Advance in scientific research when applied to industry will generate
huge economic value, so the government's income will increase and they can
use the money to build more schools, hospitals, public facilities for the poor.
I found this view was quite interesting and convincing. From the opposite view,
I understand the influence of aerospace program better. So, this is the example
of learning from people whose vies contradict ours.
