ISSUE1"We can usually learn much more from people whose views we share than from people whose views contradict our own; disagreement can cause stress and inhibit learning"。 分析过程中要突出:learn(这是大多数习作中会忽视的关键词)

Do we learn from people whose views we share more than  from those whose ideas contradict ours? The speaker claims so,for the reason that disagreement can cause stress and inhibit learning.I concede that undue discord can impede learning and so we learn more from people whose ideas we share.Otherwise,in my view, whether some mutually share ideas can make people learn more from each other is quite a personal matter.

Admittedly, disagreement can cause stress and sometimes inhibit our learning, and as a result we might learn from people whose views we share than from those whose view contradict our own.For example, a student of paleontology learns little about the evolutions of an animal species under current study with an individual whose religious belief system precludes the possibility of evolution to begin with. And,economics and finance students learn little about the dynamics of a laissez-farie system by debating with a socialist whose view is that a centralized power should control all economic activity.Anyhow, people are at least easier to understand each other when they find them sharing the same ground in most cases.

However, disagreement can also benefit us greatly. On the one hand, distinct perspectives on an issue may turn out to sharpen our mind, broaden our ken and shed some light on the issue in question, and therefore enhance our learning.Contradictive opinions always serve to sharply reveal some flaws in our opinion or theory. In contrast, those who accede to your opinion are always inclined to neglect even cover up the shortcomings existing in your view.An obvious example is the debate since the opponents can easily find the flaws and weakness in our argument.Consequently,a heated debate usually leads to a thorough and comprehensive understanding about the subject in discussion.

On the other hand, throughout the human intellectual history,it is always the different schools of thought rather than those who share,on any issue, identical ideas with each other that combine to boost scientific and technological progress. For instance, the debate on the statistical interpretation of wave functions between the Copenhagen School, including Niles Bohr,Werner Heisenberg,Wolfgang Pauli and Max Born, and opponents ,including Albert Einstein and Erwin Shrodinger, results in a thorough and comprehensive understanding of quantum mechanics.

All in all, which one, disagreement or agreement, will promote our learning from others is quite a personal matter which depends on so many factors as age, motivations, psychological maturity, personal understanding with each other and so on.

In sum, disagreement with others may be counterproductive to learning under some circumstances while impetus sometimes.Whether disagreement or agreement facilitates our learning is quite a personal matter which depends on many intelligent and emotional factors.
