Nowadays,many children begin learning foreign languages as long as they start school. Some people maintain that Learning foreign languages early can have a positive effect on their future life. The earlier they study foreign languages, the better their future development will be. However, I strongly hold the opinion that children should not learn foreign languages immediately when they start school, which does more harm than good to children's further development.
One of the greatest disadvantages of learning foreign is that children's pressure would increasingly grow. When they start school at the age of 7, they have little possibility of grasping their native language well. If children learn both native and foreign languages at the same time, children would ultimately have a good command of them, with discouraging slowness. However, It is not important for children to grasp foreign languages well because they can hardly have chances to meet foreigners. Therefore, instead of learning foreign languages, grasping native language well when children are young is of great importance.
In addition, when children start school, they are not fully developed, physically and mentally, children do not have enough ability to learn more than one languages at the same time. Finding that languages is not easy to grasp, children might feel boring and discouraging, which might resist improvement. Thus, learning foreign languages early may do far more harm than good to children's further development.
Although children should not begin learning foreign languages as long as they start school, some minor importance has been attached to do this. With a good understanding of foreign languages, children could be more competitive than other children who can not speak foreign languages. Meanwhile, children have to understand foreign languages well to be eligible for further education such as universities. Therefore, learning foreign languages could make some change.
To sum up, I propose that children should not begin learn foreign languages as long as they start school. Children should spend more time playing with others.
