We are all beneficiaries of the advancement of technology. The benefactions come in a variety of convenience, ranging from research field to daily life. Although there is an old saying that "adversity spurs vitality,while comfort breeds sloth", dependence on the ease brought by improvement of technology does not decidedly responsible for the diminishment of  individual reason.Technically speaking, technology itself is a result of human reason in problem solving. Depending on those advanced technology, human develop new applications and thus permit the previously special technology to transform into one with general utilization. Art conservation science, which introduces techniques in material research, such as X-ray scanning and infrared imaging to analyze details of how the works are composed, is an good example of successful application of special technology. This is no special case, an increasingly amount of various usages of technology are emerging every day in different industries. The process of utilization requires profound insight of both the original industry and the new technology, and the most important part, the idea that combines them into one. Traces of reasoning are everywhere in such a process.New technology also economizes time. This is an advantage since the laborious parts of work are transferred to products of new technology while the human thoughts are spared for deeper thinking. When searching for articles, using an academic searching engine is less time-consuming than going through journals in a library; when assembling commodities, an automatic pipeline turns out to be more efficacious than a traditional handmade workers. Scientific research also benefit from relying on new technology. Tycho, a brilliant astronomer who had spent all his life in observation of celestial bodies, might have discovered the laws of planetary motion himself with the help of modern telescopes and data analysis software, instead of leaving his life-long observation data to his successor, Kepler.Frankly speaking, the act of ascribing the lack of individual thinking to dependence on technology is merely an excuse we seek. The fundamental reason for the atrophy of individual reasoning actually lies in ourselves. It is true that the advancement of technology has dramatically improved the quality of life, but it is ourselves who choose to become indolent in reasoning. The booming information on the internet can be properly utilized to gain knowledge and to deepen understanding about our majors or hobbies, some of us, however, spend huge amount of time collecting information without any reasoning. New technology present us with countless benefactions, but it is our choice that we make best of them or just regard them as a new form of killing time.It is undeniable that new technology has cultivated our life in different ways, such as burst of information and abundance of material products, but relying on those convenience do not necessarily result in diminish of individual reason. Technology didn't and will not decide who we are. We do.
