In contemporary society, more and more students choose to go to colleges or universities to have further study. They make this choice for many different reasons.  As far as I am concerned, I believe there are three main reasons as follow.
First of all,  in  colleges or universities, students can learn a lot of general knowledge and expertise which can prepare them for future professions. For example, a person who want to be  a lawyer in the future has to go to a law school in colleges or universities. And if the person decide to be a doctor after graduate, she/he will choose a medical college or university.
Second,  students can learn a lot of social skills in the colleges or universities，such as organizing skills, teamwork, leadership and so on. For instance,  when the students run for positions in the student union, students will get a taste of what political life is like: talk to others, understand their needs and build the mutual trust,  eventually get their votes. In the process, all the essential qualities and skills needed for a successful political career can be developed and honed.
Last but not least, students in the colleges and universities can meet people from different backgrounds from everywhere in the world.  They can easily find the people who have the same hobbies with themselves in the campus. For instance,  the students who love music can join the music club in the colleges or universities, in the club, they music-lover can communicate with each other and be friends.

Admittedly,   the education in colleges and universities have its downsides. Some students who lack of self-discipling  may be abandon themselves. For instance, they may be addicted into computer games or always skip the classes. So students who choose to go to the colleges or universities should aware that they should try to learn more in the schools for their own future.
