Nowadays, you can encounter advertisements everywhere, no matter you are walking in city, driving along highway, or reading newspapers at home. Many people dislike advertisements and regard them as disgust things fulfill their lives. The existence of the advertisings, however, has its own reasons and has relative benefits.
Before the appearance of the advertisements, people live on basic commodities such as, food and clothing. The limitation of the information from new products makes it impossible for most of the people to know the new products which can improve their life qualities. Advertisings permit customers to know details about different high-tech or specific-designed products in the market, and allow them picking suitable ones for themselves. For example, when somebody wanted to furnish his home with an appliance, without advertisings, he would go to many outlets to compare different appliances with different functions. It was a time-consuming and inefficient task. The result might be unsatisfied because of limited time or lack of information. On the other hand, if advertisings are available to him, the situation would be different. One can stay home to make all the decisions and then call the detailer from the number on the advertisements. All jobs can be finished home and only thing one consumed in this process is coffee on his table.
In addition to the benefits above, advertisements also have some obvious flaws. Advertisers always exaggerate their products on all media. In order to sell more products to customers, advertisers will pay large sums of money to some famous sports players or pop singers to endorse their products. In this means, some fans of the celebrities will buy the products even though they don’t need it. Besides, money used for advertisings will increase the price of products.
In conclusion, I think advertisement is an important part of the modern life. In spite of some disadvantages, advertisement increased diversity products to our markets and brought conveniences to all customers.
