Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: It is better for children to choose the jobs similar to their parents.
As a Chinese old saying goes:"It's better for sons continue doing what their fathers do."In my opinion, this idea has to reconsidered. I believe that children should not choose the jobs similar to their parents.
First of all, children have the right to decide what they want to do. Some parents regard their jobs as a gold bowl, which means these jobs are reletively stable and are easy to get a high salary. However, they totally ignore the real desire of children. Children have their own ambitions and dreams, and they want to fight for their own future. They won't taste the fullfillness of life once force to do their parent's jobs that thay do not really like. For example, the famous Wang Feng was forced to learn violin when he was young. Because his father was a violinist and wanted him to be a violinist to when he grown up. Wang Feng did not like playing violion and his true love was rock music. He argued with his father inorder to hold on to his dream over and over again. Finally, he bacame an excellent rock in the future.
Secondly, choosing a like similar to parents may make life less adventourous. Parents have been in the position for several decades. Children know well about what their parents do, how do they work and what abilities the jobs need. If they are going to do the same things when growing up, they will just continue to do the tasks repeatedly. They will not have a chance to experience another form of life, which may be more intereting.
Finally, choosing a similar job probably make children too indulged in comfort to make progress. Parents have social relationship in a certain field. They may ask someone else to pay special attention to their kids or even give priorities. Thus, the children feel they won't get punished even if they do something wrong. Their parents will take care of it. For example, in my sister's company, one of her collegue is the son of the manager of this company. The son doesn't work as hard as other employees but gets the same salary, moreover, nobody says a word about it. The boy himself just live and work in the shelter of his father and never get his ability improved.
In conclusion, it is the children who decide what jobs thet want to take. Choosing a similar career as parents can make life less challenging and more reasons to get lazy. So, hold on to our real dreams and find the job most suitable to us. Do not let your choice limited by your parents.
