Nowadays, along with the development of technology, grows people's reliance on it.  Sometimes people find that they rely on technology so much that they depend on technology to make decisions for their life and do the analyse for their work in stead of thinking for themselves. Under this circumstance, there comes the concern: what if technology substitutes us? In other word, will the ability of human beings to think independently decline? From my perspective, the ability to think will not decline because of technology.
 
Obviously, technology frees people from meaningless labor and thus enables them with more time for advanced activities. In fact, some staffs that are tiring but inevitable actually can do little help to the emhance of the ability of thinking. For example, housewives are emancipated from household chores thanks to washing machines, cooking appliances etc brought by technology. Time is saved for them to do more thinking for themselves. They can blueprint the future of their children while enjoying a cup of coffee, waiting for the machines to finish the cleaning. Also, they can devote more time to other creative work. Another example in very common in every ivory tower. In laboratories, professors need not to do every specific experiment all by themselves. Because instruments can analyse the concentration of an element with a blink of an eye  and save a lot of time, professors are enabled to do the advanced thinking.  So, technology is beneficial for people to think for themselves.
 
Technology not only enables people with time to do their thinking, it even provides people with new methods. With these new methods, people can make new discoveries which will lead people to a whole new standview. In the field of environmental science, scientists applies numerical simulation softwares of air and water to suvey on the movement of pollutent. These softwares greatly simplify the routine of the pollutant and the environmental variable, outputing a lucid and accurate formular for scientists to think for a solution to decrease the pollution. Additionally, some modern technology of modelings on economical theories challenge classic thoeries, which demands people to think more deeply and comprehensively than ever to reevaluate the old theories and try to put up a new and convincing one. Thus, technology enables people to think in a more sophisticated way.
 
Moreover, technology can not substitute human mind. It is the creative works that push our society to leap, while it is known to us all that however advanced technology could be, it cannot create new ideas. The real demandin job is still left for human. Human need to use technology as a tool in order to think for themselves and make contributions to the society. A notepad may act like a little secretary for people to memorize trivials and categorize files; a calculator may do all the countings. However, no electronic instrument could compose a song. Nor could a typewirter write an inspiring book. So we do not have the need to worry about whether technology can substitute human mind or not. Only human are creative, and it is the creative work that makes the progress.
 
Admittedly, nowadays to some people, the ability to think for themselves do decline. However, the reasons are variable.  Some of them are just too lazy to think, others may be too depented on searching machines. But we find no immediate connection between technology and the decline of thinking ability. From the reasoning above, we can reach a conclusion that the ability of people to think for themselves will nor deteriote because of technology.
