In a fast-developing society, everyone wants to succeed. Though the definition of success varies form person to person, how to become successful and whether we should be different from the others remain under discussion. I think individual specialties are of importance when it comes to succeed, which means we should be distinctive from the others.  Successful people are always passionate which can't be found in the vast majority of people.Success means doing something better than others, so in order to achieve it, we must first be passionate. Since interest is the best teacher, only with great passion can we dedicate our heart and soul to carrying out a career.Many great scientists make great breakthroughs on the foundation of passion. Take Albert Einstein for example, if he wasn't keen on physics, would he become such notable physician all over the world? Of course not!  Determination is another key factor contributed to succeeding. We acknowledge that determination is a characteristic most of us don't have. Without determination, people may just give up when meeting obstacles and becoming lazy.Born in a poor family, my friend Jeremy dreamed of getting the scholarship so as to study in an Ivy League college and he had strong will to make it true. He studied day and night to get top scores and worked as a volunteer in his community to rich his experiences. Besides, he was also the president of the Students' Union, thus absorbing lots of communication skills. Difficulties though he met, whenever he thought of his original dream , he just carried on. Finally he made it and was admitted into Yale.  This is an example of success with determination.  Last but not the least, persistence works as a foundation to success.Persist people never stop. Once setting up the goal, he or she just keeps chasing it. Persistence is to success what bricks are to a house. It is basic and most important. Take J.K. Rowling as an example. She was once refused by publishers 12 times, but she didn't give up. She revised her script hundreds of times, and without her insistence, there would be no Harry Potter.  Though being the same with others do have some advantages such as supports and understandings from each other, the disadvantages of depending on each other and making excuses of laziness have dwarfed the advantages.In conclusion, I hold firm that being different from others and having distinctive characteristics are extremely important values that are needed to be successful.
