Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: More and more people are spending money on their pets, even though there can be other good ways to spend money.Nowadays, as our society grows more and more wealthy, it seems more and more people are spending large quantities of money raising their pets. They claim pets to be good companions and friends even they can not talk. Though other ways of spending money like travelling or tasting delicious food do exist, raising pets is still very popular. Whether this phenomenon exist or how reasonable it is remains under heated discussion. I am for the view that  more and more people are spending money on pet animals even if there are many other good ways to use money.On one hand, since pets keep good company and are very loyal to their human raisers, there is a growing number of old people starting to raise pet. As we know,  because of the society having more and more old people,  who retire from work and have lots of free time, it is suitable for them to have pets in order to ease their feeling of loneliness. Not only can pets talk and play with their human partners, but also make old people's life rich and colorful. Some animals, like the dogs, can help to protect their masters. For example, my grandmother is raising a dog named Teddy, he is very active and stays around my grandmother all the time. He catches the ball my grandmother throws and barks when strange people come close. Whenever she was alone at home, Teddy gives her the need of expressing emotions.So my grandmother said she was quite happy to have Teddy and felt safe under his protection. This explains why old people like to spend money on pets.On the other hand,  young people also want to have pets for pets represent their unique appetite and show their warm hearts. Although you may think young people like to spend money on food or clothes or something, the trend of raising pets have popularized in the young people both in campus and out of campus. School boys raise pets in order to show they have a wide range of knowledge and cater to girls who like small animals. School girls raise pets just for fun. Young people who do not have child raise pets of established type to enrich their life and tell others they are responsible and enjoying life, for taking care of pets is a symbol of responsibility and positive lifestyle. For example, my teacher raises 3 cats and takes good care of them. He just met his wife when organizing a pet activity.  They talked about pets and my teacher got the chance to show his personalities.Though many other ways of spending money do exist, such as buying Ipad or Iphone to surf the internet, consuming lots of beautiful clothes, the advantages of raising pets have dwarfed other ways of spending money and cater to both old people and young people. In conclusion, I strongly hold firm that more and more people spend money on pets rather than other existing good ways.
