Government is one of the most important parts in our society. If our authority deals it well. It would give an impetus to our life. Given that our circumstance is a sustainable development process, whether it is an immediate problems or the anticipated one, both of them are important. Therefore, it is really a responsibility for our government to settle these two aspects well.
First and foremost, government should focus on solving the immediate problems. After all, it relate to humans life directly. When financial crisis happened, the result of it is unemployment. Without a stable income, people’s life would be security. If government ignore this problem and do not take measures to solve it, there would be many illegal activities such a stealing, spreading of rumors and stirring of public scare. And then, form other aspect, earthquake is also a good prime example of this issue. After this awful disaster, government should try their best to provide medical help, rescue team and food supply. It is the time to prove the ability to the citizens that they can guarantee people's safety. Only through this method, the people can trust and support the government honestly.
However, this does not mean that government can ignore the anticipated problems. Protecting environment has always been an accepted tool for sustainable development. It is also a representation of the responsibility to our generation. If we ignore the environmental issue, and destroy our nonrenewable resources to develop economy. Our offspring would suffer calamity, and the survival of mankind would encounter danger. In the meantime, population, this is a big problem if it is not being enough attention. Population pressure would lead to our country not be completely self-sufficient, as the shortage of nature resource, there are even not enough place for human beings living. All of this can easily destroy our life.
The reform and “open up” policy is a good example of the importance of anticipitated. Without the policy which Deng Xiaoping proposed in1978, china’s economy would not develop so fast. And then, if government only focuses on solving the immediate problems, the anticipated problems would become more and more labefaction. From another perspective, what we do today to avoid future problems is a way to help us to live well. For instance, we are trying to protect our environment, we may regard it as a behavior to ready for the future, but at the same time, we can benefit from it either. At the same time, if we only concerned on solving the immediate problems, our society cannot make progress and that is also a kind of selfish.
To sum up, the speaker's dual recommendation is too extreme. No matter the problems of today, or the anticipated problems of the future. Both of them are significant to our society. Yet our government must be appropriately and evenhandedly administered; otherwise, they might serve instead of defeat these purposes.
