Nowadays, a large number of books about how to get success occur and sell well in China. There are different ways to success according to different books' description, which proves the old saying, every road leads to Rome. Among them, an opinion makes a debate that one should be more like others than be different from anyone else in order to succeed. As for me, I consider that being different is superior to being like others for the following reasons. First of all, one will have his own characteristic and advantage when he is different from others. For instance, my brother works in a very competitive surrounding recently and everyone in the company is hardworking in order to succeed in getting higher salary. It's not an easy thing but my broter got the highest salary in the company last month. Why? My brother is always a little more persistant than his colleagues when in communication with his clients. Because of a little more persistance, he succeeds. Another reason why I support the view that differece is of greater importance is that difference makes progress. It's mainly because you'll make comparasion with others on the different points and then be able to learn from others' strong points to offset own weakness, which makes closer to succeess. Also, it's easier to be creative and have inspiration when being different from others, which increases the chance of success.
In addition, being like others might result in losing one's own direction. There's an experience I got through on my own. I planned to get up at 7 a.m. everyday to learn hard when I just got in university. However, my roommates all got up later than me. Then I wanted to be like them at that time and got up later as well. It leads to the result that my grades are not outstanding in university, which is my regret. It's true that being like others gives contribution to success at sometimes. However, from the above mentioned three reasons, I side with the statement that in order to succeed, one should be more different from everyone else than be like others.
