Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: In order to succeed, you should be more like others than be different from everyone else.
People are chasing success all the time. Everyone wants to be successful for sure. With this phenomenon comes an interesting discussion that we should be more like other than be different from everyone else to aim for success. As far as I am concerned, people should be unique to reach their goals. There are some reasons and examples as follows that illustrate my point of view.
To begin with, to be different force us to think problems ourselves, which means no onecan disturb us. We cannot be confined by other people's thoughts or ideas. For instance, great astronomer Copernicus formulated a model of the universe that placed the Sun rather than the Earth at its center. At that time, he did not be inferenced by the main theory that the Sun is the center of the universe. He observed, caculated, and put forward his own model. If he was like everyone else back then, the development of astronomy would not make any progress.
In addition, to be unique means we can think outside of the box. We cannot succeed if we do not have new opportunities or think in a new way. New things does not mean good things, however, good things always come from new things. Thinking outside of the box can help us find new approaches to solve problems. For example, Newton was hitted by an apple, and he thought differently why it droped down rather than up. Everyone knows the rest of the story, he published law of universal gravitation.
Admittedly, there is no way around the fact that being like other people has its own benefit to success. You can cooperate with other people harmony and you will work together and share the results together. However, compared with what being different brings to us, it is minor attribute, because the key point of being success is innovation.
From what has been discussed above, I can safely draw a conclusion that in order to succeed, you should be more different from other people than be like everyone else. It is not only because being unique can protect us from other former idea, but also because being different help us to think wildly in a new way.
