In any field of inquiry, the beginner is more likely than the expert to make important contributions.
Is beginner more likely than the expert to make important contributions in any field of inquiry?It is quite easy to find out the answer of the question.Just look at the contributions in the world,such as Nobel Prize,we can discover that there are hardly prizes for who is beginner.In most situation,those who have been studied in a certain area can make significant breakthrough .
Admittedly,people may argue that though beginners may hardly get important reward ,they can contribute much to the progress of a study.Because people who just step into certain area are refreshing,enegetic,and inspired than those experts who have been working on a problen for years,these features are not sufficient enough to make important contributions.
Take the example of area in music.When a new star just step into music world,because of his innovated ideas ,as well as many stars started not just to cater what the public like,they seem refreshing and there may be some followers.However,the key to keep his popularity lie in the ability in his singing or creation.Otherwise,the new looks or style cannot last long.As time pass by,the public will find that it is the skilled singers who have been stand out in music world for years that can produce really enjoying music.However,if beginners take advantages of their new looks well ,it is likely that they will make significant progress.Such as Jay Chou,who begins like a strang boy who was silient and shy.Yet in music world where stars are all try to pleasen the public ,his style seemed appealing.Also,his music was novel because his brave style of combining r&b and rap.As time pass by,his skill improves and he can make more breakthrough in music,such as adding traditional Chinese style in his music.That is why his success lasts long.
Also,in the past,when the knowledge we had know is limited in what we can see and touch.In such condition,it is more possible for a beginner to make contributions,which in such situation means new discoveries .Like the discovery of new land,and Mendel who found the hybrization of peas.We can notice that most of these "contributions" need not experiences ,deep knowledge.Just by beginners' unique sight and careful obserbvation can they achieve them.
In modern society,as the development of technology and sciences,as well as many other kinds of areas,the ranges people study become wide,the knowledge these areas need is deep and elusive.Consequently, making contributions no longer seems as simple as they were in the past.It needs combination of unique sight,careful obervation,yesterday's experience,hundrend times of try and most important,professional knowledge.Even experts can hardly get all these qualities ready,let alone the beginners who just start to know the area.
In sum,it is only occasional situation that beginners are more important in making contributions.In most condition,it is experts who can make progress in areas.
