本题为老GRE的ISSUE73原题。题目讨论想象力和知识的重要性问题，是大家很熟悉内容。因为范围（在很多行业和学术领域）给的很宽松，所以无论是采用正面观点还是反面观点都有很多切入点，而且有很多相关的理论和事例可利用。分析的时候应当注意三点：
1、要尽量拓展开思路，不要仅仅局限于科学领域。把各个行业、领域或者其中有代表性的几个进行对比，这样有助于更全面的把握文章。
2、相互的对比很简单，想象力和知识本身就是相互依赖的两个内容，但不要仅仅给出“foundation”、“creative”等通俗解释后漏掉两者重要性的比较。
3、重要性的对比可以结合不同的需求来说，要言之有物，不说空话。

当一套理论的公理化体系已经完备，那么就需要建立通过想象力来提出新的公理，建立新的理论。比如，欧几里德几何是一套完备的公理化体系，而黎曼，罗巴切夫斯基则运用他们伟大的想象力对第五公理进行创造性改造，最终建立了非欧几何，开拓了新的数学领域。

creativity and scientific inventions.However,in my view,the importance
of knowledge should not be neglected and it also play a key role.
Imagination could break the constraints of established mindsets and concepts in the mind,while knowledge would sometimes imprison people' thinking.And knowledge is derived when people deal with sorts of problems they faced.It blends ways and experience of predecessors to solve those problems.Nevertheless,humans would face new challenges and problems everyday and existing knowledge is usually not enough to handle them.Thus,humans need to make innovations.And imagination is the source of creativity,and can bring about new ideas or discoveries in most professions and academic fields.So imagination is sometimes more readily to inspire people's creativity than knowledge.
However,at the same time we should not neglect the importance of knowledge.knowledge represents wisdoms of myriad intellectuals and lays the foundation for advanced research.One should fully understand the background of a professional or academic field and find challenges and problems to be resolved.And then maximally use imagination to make pioneering work.For instance,a young man/woman who decides to become a good theoretical physicist must learn and have a good command of courses on elementary mathematics and physics before he/she wants to do innovative research.Theoretical physics is like a skyscraper,and no one could construct the skyscraper without first reconstructing these foundations.Without knowledge,imagination is only a beautiful dream and in most cases would not become reality.It is impossible that an amateur scientist,who learned no basic courses on science,would make scientific inventions，relying on imagination alone
All in all,wide knowledge and a lively imagination are equally significant and any of them are indispensable. Throughout the human history,nearly every great intellectual achievement is a compound of imagination and knowledge.The births of Riemann Geometry,Quantum Physics and Relativity,etc are all good examples.Without knowledge,imagination may remain only an illusion and never become reality.Without imagination,knowledge is like a bird that has lost its wings,which as a result loses its energy,becomes dull and develops slowly.
In sum,imagination can serve as an important catalyst for artistic creativity and scientific inventions.Yet,knowledge can also play a key role and we should not neglect the importance of knowledge.
