It appears that people's behavior is becoming more and more determined by the forces not of their own making. I agree that people's behavior can be determined by forces not of their own making since there are lots of things beyond our control. However, it is also true that we can choose what to do under many circumstances. Therefore people's behavior can be determined by forces not of their own making and by their owns. It should be discussed case by case.
When it comes to the law, it is true that we don't have any choices except obeying the law. People can't making any harmful movement which breaks the law. For instance, people with little money but huge ambition to make a fortune may have the idea in their mind to steal in order to get a lot of money. It must be a fancinating idea for them to do so. However, because of the law, they will commit crime if they steal things from the rich ones. The behavior is confined by the law. Under these circumstances, it is absolutely true that people's behavior is exactly determined by the law, which is a kind of forces not of their own making.
However, there are also a lot of time that people can determine their behavior regardless of the forces outside. We all know that people's behavior can be affected by the education they received. In many developing countries, the governments are not capable of providing high-quality education for the students. In this way, they can only teach students many fundamental knowledge which is only usable when taking exams rather than providing them the courses to develop their talent in the art area. The students who have the talent for drawing, playing music can not be educated in the schools. Under these circumstances, many students, especially students with little money choose to learn arts through Internet and try to get financial aid by showing their talent to the rich people who are willing to help them pursuit their art dreams. Students whose families can afford sending them to developed countries to study arts will persuade their parents to do so. So that even the forces can put a lot of pressure on people's behavior, they can still choose their own way to behave. In this way, people's behavior is not determined by forces but their own choices.
Some people may say that people's behavior is completely determined by forces not of their own making. If they are right, people who lives in the same area, obeying the same laws and get similar education will behave alike.However, it is obvious that people behave greatly different from one person to the other. People can make their choice about their behavior under many circumstances.
All in all, people are not machines which just do what they are told to. People can think so that although sometimes their behavior is determined by forces which are not of their own making, there are also many times that their behavior is exactly determined by their own willing.
