Choosing the right career is of vital importance to a person's success. But people are having different opinions about which the right opinion is: entering a big company like Microsoft or GE or opening a little business like a cafe or restaurant. As far as I am concered, the former is the more appealing choice.
Firstly, working for an employer needs no inveestment. In contrast, if I choose to start a company, I must invest a considerable sum of money to hire employees, rent office and purchase necessaary equipment. For young graduates like me, we do not have the amount of money to open a little cafe or restaurant. Rents of a shop is a big problem and we also do not have enough experances to deal with routines in running a business.
Secondly, working for an employor involves less financial risks. Completing the tasks before deadlines and clocking in before 9 a.m. can ensure me not getting fired. In cotrast, starting my own business runs a higer fianncial risk because a considerable persontage of start-ups go into bankrups. I can back up this point by a ture experiences of my best friend. Liang Luoyu, my college roomate who decided to have small bookshop near our school after gaduated. With a burning ambition she started the business with the money she earned from part-time job in her school time. Instead of a prosperiting business she had expected to have, the incomes made by selling books could not surport even her basic needs. Eventually she was saprated from running a business and empolyed by a great company later.
Admittedly, working fo others does have its downsides. For instance, it means less income comparing to have a on business. However, if viewing from a different perspective, less incomes means that I can have more leisure time. Money never means everthing of life, and we can have the precious time to stay with relatives and friends.
In short, working for oneself or owning a business is a nice choice when necessery conditions like investments and competence is ready. However, enployed by companies is also a good and down-to-earth choice which is choosed by most of people in the world.
