The auther claims that nations should suspend government funding for the arts when many citizens are suffering from hungry or unemployed.At first glance,it seems to be somewhat convincing,but further reflection reveals it omits some substantial concerns that should be addressed to the stsatement.In my point of view,goverment should never stop funding for the arts.
It may be widely accepted that it is unwarranted to spend money on arts as people died for starving because it can result in terrible condition,such as chaos,objection or revolution.As the matter of fact,I can even say that each revolution in history result froms starvation and unemployment.When considering the Arab Spring,the Revolution of Chensheng,people may think of lacking of rights of normal people and violent control of government,but when think deeply,we will find it is starvation and unemployment that eventually cause people decide to fight.However,government cannot stop art funding because they are terrified of chaos,objection or revolution.For one,art funding is a piece of cake,comparing to food or work funding.So it is useless to stop funding for art.For the other,funding for arts that aspire for peace and hormony can help government combine their people and go through the tough time.
Government should not noly consider the problem need to be solved right now but also the problem in the futher.Arts may seems useless for economic now,but could extremely cause unbelieveable revenue.Studying Dream of Hong,a chinese ancient book,feed generations of publisher and researchers,which is unpredictable when the book is written.Arts also have connection with science,which can transform to money easily.
To sum up,due to the above mentioned reasons,which sometimes correlate with each other to generate an integrate whole and thus become more convincing than any single one of them,I may conclude that goverment should fund for arts despite hungry and unemployment of their people.
