everyone would have upsetting or controversial problem in one's life and work, and email or text message and telephone or voice-message are the most popular ways to communication. there is a statement that if you need to solve such controversial problem, using email or text message are better than telephone or voice-messaging. I agree.
the upsetting or controversial problem should have the following characters. it is a very complex problem and to solve it need many times to make questions and answers with others. it is need much more time for thinking when you do the reply. it is might not so close the deadline that to be solved.
emails and text messages are satisfied all of these need. consider businessman, the problem perhaps about large amount of money, and he will paid a lots for every mistake he made. the email and text message could give him enough time to think his answer and every word and sentence he has written. but telephone or voice-message couldn't. consider scientists, the problem perhaps is difficult. the scientists need to answer every question with much thinking which might can't so quick. telephone and voice-message obvious are not able to give him enough time expect he hold on the phone for very long time.
on the other hand, telephone and voice-message in some situation is not convenient. for instance, in some country, voice-message is not a usual way to communicate. some of the company of telecommunications don't offer the service of voice-message. furthermore, in some place, people is not able to have a call. if a young man who are in a hospital and wants to tell his family he got wrong. but hospital is not a good place for talking.
conclusion, in i opinion, using email or text message are better than telephone or voice-messaging to discuss some upsetting or controversial problem.
