(Claim – Reason) "本题为两道老GRE的ISSUE题目综合——ISSUE101 ""Governments should provide funding for artists so that the arts can flourish and be available to all people""和ISSUE85 ""Government funding of the arts threatens the integrity of the arts"".

While many a number of people overstate the importance of the independence of arts in a society, the truth is that arts, serves as one of the elements in a society, mingles with other elements like politics, economy and culture and being influenced by them from its birth. A debate rises that whether government should support arts with funding to faciliate arts to flourish and whether such conduction will have a side effect on the integrity of arts.
From my perspective, contrast to many who argue that government fundings will do harm to its integrity, I stand firmly on my point that a certain degree of support by the government will be beneficial for the development of arts. First, government fundings can help many artists out of economic dilemma that keeps them from liberal creation and provide them with a relatively lenient environment for creation work. For example, Louis XIV, the former King of France, who was best known for the collapse of a imperior, actually made a great contribution to the flourishment of Franch Drama at that time. When at his throne, he and his government gave dramatists like Moliere, Racine patronages and founded the Academy France. It is because of the government fundings as well as support that provided by Louis XIV and his government that helped these playwrights to create their works without concerns of earning a living or being caught by the church, for at that time, the works they created were mostly too acerbic and enlightening for the church.
What's more, besides helping the artists out of financial difficuties, government fundings of arts could help build a bridge between the arts world and the public. The Chinese National Museum is just the case. Built in the late 20 century, The Chinese National Museum serves as a free-for-charge one and collects a wide range of arts works from domestic to abroad, from ancient to modern... What's more, there is always short-term arts festival or exhibition in the museum and sometimes visitors, if blessed with luck, can take a look of the genuine works by Vango or Picaso. Such a museum that built by government fundings can hardly be bulit individually. By doing so, the government make arts accessible to the common people, helping them enjoy in the sea of arts. Also, government fundings that improve the development of arts can also be seen in education. Via providing students with arts classes like music and painting lessons, the government help children find their talents or interest in arts in an early age. Through public arts museums and arts lessons, the government use its fundings to enable the public to appreciate arts and get fascinated by arts, which, consequently, will result in the flourishment of arts and a flux of artists.
Although arts sometimes could be controlled and hampered by government fundings as it was in 1960s China, when all the artists were forced to produce works only to exol the party and the leaders, we can not deny the significance government funding has in promoting the development of arts. A certain extent of government fundings is both beneficial for the artists to live without difficulties and the public to get access to arts, which, will inevitably contribute to the flourishment of arts.
