The speaker asserts that the study of history has the value when it is relevant to our daily life. I fundamentally agree with the speaker. Admittedly, the history is the vital reference for us in indicating our daily life. Whereas, the speaker overlooks the value of a human own promotion.
The notion of the speaker has its own merit in the following two aspects. First, study of the history provides us a convincing reference when we make a decision. One apt illustration for this point involved in the weather forecast. The prediction of the next day's weather is base on a huge history statistics plus the experience of researcher. Without the record of the old weather condition, it's hard to make a forecast, let alone ensure its accuracy. Second, through analyze of the history we can find a clear trend which help us foresee the near future. In the film of inconvenient truth, Gore using the huge amount of history data presented the future condition to us which awoke the people alarm. Without the history, Gore can hardly draw the conclusion, not to mention evoke the emotion between people.
On the other hand are the self-acknowledge to a nation which the history brings about. Study of the history deepens the understanding to our own nation which will switch to a deep affection and pride to our country. Following the river of history we find the rise of a nation and the fall of a nation alternating the sequence emerge in front of us with the distress and exhilarate we witness a county’s vicissitudes. From the history we learned the wisdom of the ancient people and inherit the virtue from them. Sinking into the history we find ourselves in the blundering society.
Study of the history let us break the bondage of our mind broadening the horizon for us. Media is the chief tool for us to connect with the world. However, such article or report mixes the personal notion which may mislead us to an errant road. Constrained in a country, on can hardly see the reality. The way to see the truth behind the report is to find the its original, and such thing always hide in the history. In order to diminish the prejudice from us, we should establish a set of correct criterions which are largely base on the history.
In the final analyze, the speaker only see the function of a history in a human daily life. Nevertheless, the history assumes a crucial role in building a correct value system to a person in the international event which is the premise in establishing a harmony relationship between different countries.
