As a great poet had said, art can purify the mind of human beings, ensuring citizen have access to art is benefit for the well being of the society. Besides, art consists the important part of a nation's culture, so the flourish of art can build a good nation image in the world. Concerning the problem whether the government should fund art, I believe that it is financially unnecessary and with government fund, artists will have little room to do what they really want, thus damaging the integrity of art.From the aspect of artists survival, I think it is unnecessary for artists to work with government fund, at least financially. We are not living in a world where art was under attack, and artists were starving. They have seeked many ways to support themselves.  Natalie has found she can survive by selling her works in shops or sending them to magazine. Then she can use the earned money to do things interesting and original. David started by uploading his work to the webs, and then he got both wealth and fame. If fine artists welcome the opportinuties to create for real worlds, they will find they can manage to do their own art without special help from the government.Artists who tried to apply governemnt fund would find it is a troublesome and boring work, and there are a lot of limits on how they can use the money. Johnsen complains that he had to fill a million forms and do boring admin in banks to get the money. Even he got the money, he had to spend more time to prove he used the money correctly. Ceri thinks that artists have little room to do the things they like because of so much strings and requirements attached. Artists have to engage in community work such as creating images of quiting smoking, or they have to perform at festival, take part in competitions, as requried. In fact, government funding art has threatened the integrity of art. Artists have to create things they don't like to cater the taste or the need of government, thus artistic creation lacks independence.Although I am not in favor of government funding art or artists accepting  state fund, I admit government funding owns some advantages and benefits. Government can provide places or facilities for exhibitions or performances, so, on the one hand artists can spend less money to let their work be seen by others. On the other hand, tickets becomes cheaper or even free, so arts can be available to more people.In sum, I think the government should not fund arts, considering that artists have many ways to make a living, and they would have more freedom to do their art if they give up seeking government funding.
