The author gives two claims in the topic.Firstly, how children is socialized is important for the future of our society. Secondly, we haven't prepare them for bringing about a better society.I agree with both opinions.
It's commonly acknowledged that we should help children know more about our society.Children, since he or she is born, is a member od our society. They have to make contact with other people in society, except that they stay at home with parents all day long. Teaching them and encouraging them to know more about the society can tell them how to protect themselves in their growing life,which is the most important thing for them and the future society.Only with getting in touch with different people, knowing more about crime, they can tell the bad from kind, and protect themselves in these situations.If children are given more chance to know about society, what they see and hear about may stimulate their awareness about people need help. Sometimes children's charity may influence more people than adults. The kindness in their childhood may accompany with them and stimulate them to be kind for others all their life.
It's also very important for children to be socialized because they have to prepare themselves for their future life.They need know more about the rules of society,for example, they should obey the rules, they are supposed to communicate with others, they should learn to compete with people nearby and cooperate with them at the same time.They should be aware with civil's freedom, authority and obligation.With these and many other important knowledge, thay can become civils suitable for society which is constructed by their parents and ancestors.Only with the understanding of what combine a society, what a society need and what's the deficiency in society nowadays, they can do better for the future society.They can do some change, just based on their rational decision instead of being drived by emotion.
However, I have to concede that the whole society places too much emphasis on children's study and physical health.Children nowadays spend most of their time in campus and too much homework stopped form getting to know more about society.And teachers and parents pay little attention to this. Admittedly, school knowledge is essential for children's life,the chance for children to know more about society, can also be affect children's life.
In conclusion, I concede that how children are socialized today determines the destiny of society.We should also pay more attention to children's education for their acknowledge for society. It's important to call for a balance between knowledge in the book and knowledge of society, which may help children to build a better society by themselves.
