No field of study can advance significantly unless it incorporates knowledge and experience from outside that field.
For most fields of studies, them can be advanced and improved through incorporating knowledges and experiences outside that fields. And both empirical experience form the past and recent years can be cited to support this point. Nonetheless, this doesnt mean that if any field of study doesnt use the knowledge from outside, it can not progress.
To begin with, the progress of any field relies on the talented people, general environment and financial support, with talented people at the core. If we look back upon the history, it is not hard to find that most of the scientists are capable or talented in at least two fields of studies. Albert Enistein was intersted in both physican and maths; Madame Curise was both a chemist and physician; and if you think of an extreme example, Da Vinch was an engineer, painting, botanist.. They all borrowed or benefied from one field of study from another. Those are not coincidences, rather, this revealed the corelation between the progress in certain field and benefit it gained from other studies.
In more recent year, this corelation became even stronger. One can not expect to really work on his experiment properly if he refute to take the help from other fields. Apolo project included scientists form physics, chemestry, astrology, metrology and so on. For another example, Jobs can managed to build the iphone without the help of engineers, designers, mathematicians, etc.
Besides, this has already became a global trend, and as there grow more and more interdisciplinary courses such as...
