本题为老GRE中的ISSUE36原题，和老GRE中的ISSUE241很相似（An individual's greatness cannot be judged objectively by his or her contemporaries; the most objective evaluators of a person's greatness are people who belong to a later time），都是在讨论评价者“合理性”的问题。实际情况是同代人和后代都在对“某人”进行评价，二者的视角、关注点、参考信息等因素都存在不同，这些不同也就影响了评价的效果。在分析的时候可以根据不同领域、不同事件以及不同的标准来展开思路。

1. 在你的印象中不同领域和不同层次的伟人有什么共性和个性？可结合具体事例简述。

不同领域的伟人他们大部分都具有天赋并且非常努力，勇于挑战自我，敢于创新并对世界作出了贡献。

回答：
可以用对世界作出了多少贡献来衡量一个人是否伟大，但是没用定量的标准。
3. 后世人的评判和同代人评判有什么共性和区别？在这些区别中有哪些是后世人具有的优势，而且是同代人没有办法弥补的？
回答：
同年代的人只能通过伟人对于他们所生活的环境的改变来判断，而后人则既可以通过原先的改变来判断，又可以通过伟人对于后来时间里对于世界的改变进行判断，这样更全面。
4. 是否存在后代评价和同代人的评价差别很大的人物？造成差别的原因是什么？请结合具体事例说明。

当时代人认为Mao领导了中国革命，带领中国走向了胜利；但是后人认为Mao功过参半，使中国人口增长国快并且并领导一些错误的革命和决策导致国家一时的混乱
造成差别的原因是当时的人还没有身处在不好的影响之中，因为伟人的行为对于他们并没有消极的影响，但是他的这种作为会随着时间慢慢体现出来进而对后人产生不同的影响

Every person who is considered as a great one must have done something which brings a considerable influence on his or her group, nation and even the whole world. So, everyone has right to judge whether a person is great or not. However, the judgements, which describe the great people, are more cogent and comprehensive compared with the contemporaries.
In fact, the assessment criterion for the greatness of a person depends on the how much contribution that person made, nevertheless, there is not a specific indicator for judging it. As we all know, the light bubble not only gave light for the human being in the dark, but also had grown to be the fundamental factor for other fields including military, science, biology, entertainment and other even high-tech areas. Electrical light now has become part of our live which is indispensable. By contrast, when Thomas Edison first invented the small bubble firstly, contemporaries only regarded it as a very outstanding invention. Therefore we can see that, the achievement the person made will makes different influence on different ages which leads to a higher evaluation for the Thomas Edison by later generations.
On the other hand, there will be a discrepancy between the assessment of later generations and contemporaries and sometimes the assessments may totally opposite. Chair Mao made the revolution and led Chinese people to the victory during the 20s and made China a new country. At that time, every one believed that Mao is the hero of the China and nobody can replace his status. With the time pass by, people realized that something he did must be reconsidered such as population policy and the Great Cultural Revolution which made a huge impact on the nation many years later.
From the above two issues I confirm that the influence of the great people may alters with the change of the time. Some achievements made by great people at their time might be positive for the contemporaries but made some negative effects on the later generations. Although the assessment of the old generations do show the greatness of a person, those who live after them will give a more unbiased and comprehensive judgement.
