It is said that when many of its people question authority,the well-being of a society is enhanced.To some extent,I quiet agree with the point.
The reasons of why I agree with such view are as follows:First,though it is the leader of a nation who rules the society,it id its citizens who actually dominant the society.The real responsibility of the authority is to protect its citizens legal right and profits,to maintain a stable prograss of the society.Thus,the real host of the society is its residents.The authority needs its citizens to give useful advice for them,as a guideline of how to govern them well.If all its citizens hold an indifferent attitude toward authority,howcan they accept the advice.
Second,if the residents do not keep an eye on leaders' rule,it is likely that the authority will abuse its power.In many kinds of ancient society,only a king of a nation had oppotunities to set the laws,to deside who was crinimal,and which punishment he or she deserved.In many situations that a servant was killed only because he or she agitated his or her hosts.Obviously,the ancient societies were all not as advanced and demostrated as they are now,and they were frequantly toppled by their citizens because of their long time dissatisfatory.
Third,it is helpful for the society whose citizens question authority to find out its shortness in time.A country,especially one with a large number of people,it is difficult for the authority to be detachment and meet all its citizens demand.If its citizens are willing to question authority,and reflect their opinions to the authority,it is beneficial for authority to correct where their weak point s are.
However,there are some disadvantages accompany with the phenomenon that most citizens question the authority.If their opinions of disagreement cannot be addressed in time,citizens will take measures to attract the government's attention,such as demostration and revolutions,which will cause troubles even perish of a nation.See from history,the main reason of a society's breaking down is due to its leader's overpowerful government.
In sum,the relationship among authority,citizens and the society is that authority and its citizens combine together to let the society be prosperous.In order to do this,authority should both set up prestige and listen to its residents's advice while citizens should question the authority at the same time obsess the government.
