The human mind will always be superior to machines because machines are only tools of human minds. [Specific Task Instruction: Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.]

Either human minds or machines are both capable of information processing. This particular similarity suggests that they share common characteristics: memory, calculation, etc. However, more differences come to surface as we dive into critical analysis involving the level of such information process. There is no doubt that human minds operate operate on a high-level, with structured knowledge, logical deduction and even emotional feelings. In contrast, machines are limited to low-level, tedious computations that involve mostly manipulation and storage of bits.
1. information processing: memory, storage, etc. 2. human created machines as tools. 3. machines can lift human intelligence: social nets, MOOC.
1. speed in doing some low-level tedious calculations. 2. capacity of storage. 3. connectivity. machines can connect widely and share resources seamlessly.
1. operate on bits, not flexible enough. 2. cannot handle emotion and therefore not capable of understanding literature. yes. through AI, but in the current stage not plausible.

Machines are created with novelty and wisdom by human minds and have been  increasingly indispensable in every aspect of our lives. As machines are becoming more powerful and more intelligent, comparing human minds with machines comes into the spotlight of public discussion. Although naturally some would defense the superiority of human minds by treating machines as tools made by their creators, I would cast much doubt on that argument.
Indeed, machines are tools created by human beings, and therefore in one way or another assist humans in creative thinking and productivity. The need for machines is universal in almost every industry: aerospace, software engineering, architecture, etc. Recently, the rise of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) further demonstrates how the connectivity of distant machines help in the communication and education of human minds.
Although the status of machines being tools is undeniable, the absolution conclusion that human minds are superior is unjustified. Of course, human minds are talented in creativity, flexibility, logic and even emotion, which leads us to the great art work Mona Lisa and the thrilling experience of Macbeth. Despite inferiority in these activities, machines have exhibited great potential in some other fields like computation and massive storage, tasks in which human minds would seem somewhat stupid. Modern Graphics Processing Units (GPU) can execute floating point operations up to several tetra times per second, a speed human minds could never reach.
Even if human minds are indeed arguably superior in various aspects to machines at the present stage, we cannot use such arguments to predict what happens in the future. Specifically, scientists are diving into a deeper understanding of our brain and simulating a similar mechanism on machines. Given this approach succeeding in the future, the boundary between human minds and machines could then become vague, and the statement showing superiority of human minds might not hold.
In sum, machines are now built with a purpose to assist human minds, and might not match their creators in various aspects. However, the absolute conclusion that human brains are superior to machines, whether contemporarily or in the future, needs more justification.
