As an increasing need for specialists, some people propose that educational institutions should dissuade students from pursuing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed. At the first glance it may seem plausible, after a critical thinking and comprehensive analysis, however, I cannot agree with the unreasonable suggestion.

Firstly, the standard for judging the fields of study  in which the students will suceed or not is too vague to have a clear discrimination which fields should be dissuaded for a particular students. Einstein, one of the most brilliant and intelligent scientists in the world.  was considered to be stupid at the young age turning out that the judge is incorrect and groundless. Besides the success itself is vague conception. Given that a student may be unlikely to be sucessful in studying a subject to make much money, but can we make sure he will not make academic achievements by doing so? Moreover, it is impossible to predict what effect does his effort have on the society, perhaps his little idea may change the world. Even if he cannot succeed in the above perspectives, what if he does really love the field? All educational institutions should do is to encourage instead of dissuading. Therefore, it is extremely difficult to decide whether the students will be succussful in a paritcular field.

Furthermore, the graduate may have a job without relating the major they studied in schools so that the fields of study matters little to the future career of students. According to the statistical result of a recent survey aiming at Chinese college graduates, nearly 50 percent of the students choose to work without involving in their major study. And the responds says what they learn from colleges and universities is the learning ability so that they are confident to handle the new position. As the knowledge and technology renewing so fast, most sklls need in the job are studied within work. Meanwhile, the society where competition is ubiquitous requires us to have many qualities and capabilities, thus we should not give up the fields which seem unpromissing.

As I mention above, in order to ensure students to survive in the society educational institutions are responsible to cultivate students' ability such as self-study ability, communicating skills, creative spirits and the ability to resist difficulties and disappointments. Whereupon various social acitivities in which people can communicate and cooperate with each other should be available to students. What's more, schools should assist students to develop the habit of self learning and encourage them to challenge themselves bravely other than being afraid of difficulties and frustrations.

From the analysis made above, I insist it is presumptuous to claim that educational institutions should dissuade students from pursuing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed in respect that it is not only benifical for individual develpment but harmful for social benifits.
