The claim that praising positive actions and ignore negative ones is best implies that it will not pose any detrimental impact on students’ developments. In my view, however, one cannot deny that until now, teaching is a tool that serves certain purpose designed by human. Disastrous effects may follow if people underestimate the importance of negative actions. Admittedly, the statement that praising positive actions and ignoring negative ones hold certain merit in some aspects. First, students can benefit from praise and they will be more confident about these actions. For instance, if a student receives praise because his humor, and next time he will create everyone around him happy without any hesitation. Moreover, it is inappropriate, even cruel, to point out some little negative actions. Indicating negative actions immediately sometimes will hurt students’ psychological healthy, especially for young children. The perspectives above, however, are far away from sufficient for justifying the claim that praising healthy actions and ignoring unhealthy ones is best way to teach. Actually, the essence of education is developing creative, interests and independent thinking, helping students foster a healthy monetary outlook and to guide them to realize their perfection in ethics, pushing them to gain logic thinking and enhance the general ability to learn. Praising or ignoring actions, in some fields, just one skill to push the education process. Some people may argue the idea that praising positive actions gives students energy and ignoring negative actions reduces their shame. All of these ways are beneficial for students. Such position sounds righteous and compelling, however, an in-depth examination will reveal follow problems. First, too much praising will create overconfident. It is quite normal that young people who cannot face any difficulties because they always deluges in praises which cultivated a sense that everything is easy to deal. The study from Harvard University shows that over 65% parents always praise their children and near 82% of these children believes they can do everything good without any incorrect. Second, ignoring negative actions will make students overlook shortcomings in their own and mistakes that they have made. Sometimes, any little mistakes will result in catastrophes. For example, Bill Gates has missed an order sentence in his computer program when he was a teenager, this problem leads program malfunction and finally the program was failure. Obviously, finding little mistakes and correcting them should always put the priority.In conclusion, people who know the importance of praising positive actions and ignoring negative actions will agree that it is not a perfect way to teach students. Nevertheless, in some particular conditions, praising and ignoring certain actions are good for people’s development.
